Post Clapton
I have been away for awhile, furkin work, but with Wanee on the immediate horizon I had to return. And in my return, I have to point out that Clapton played with the ABB last night (& likely will again tonight)............ I am just saying it is not too late to get the rumor rolling again.

GavinP:

I hate to bring this up, but you bear a striking resemblance to Alistaire Cookie of Monsterpiece Theatre. Just sayin'...

What? No one believes this rumor this year? It is a Wanee tradition just like wishing Griffin Anthony played more sets.

Post Re: Clapton
My only intersection with EC:

October 1970. EC has released the self-titled solo LP with "Let It Rain" and "After Midnight" during the summer. Then, as the college year starts, we get a new double LP at the radio station at school (I spent four years in the studios and was lucky to graduate).

The cover says Derek and the Dominos, and it has that beautiful cover. What the hell is this? Ah, it's a Clapton project.

So D & the Ds go on tour. I understand they played two shows with Duane, presumably in the South. They have a Friday-Saturday gig booked at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia Oct. 16 & 17. I have been dating a girl from Beaver College in Glenside. I borrow a friend's car in Bethlehem, drive to pick her up, go see the first set and go home.

The Factory had a set-up similar, as I understand it, to the Fillmore. Three bands, two shows. Ballin' Jack and Toe Fat were on the bill. Friday was so tremendous, I convinced my buddy to hitchhike back to Philly the next night. They had a rule that, if the second show did not sell out, they did not clear the club. We saw both sets from everybody Saturday.

The next weekend, they did the Fillmore, hence the live double LP.

My brother got to see Cream on the farewell tour in 68, but I was in the hospital after knee surgery. He also saw Blind Faith the next summer.

For you English majors, sorry I switched tenses in the middle of that riveting account!
