Post Re: River closed?
Just a couple of weeks ago I know it was closed due to the high water levels. The rains were so bad during the earlier flooding that the river looks totally different if you haven't been there since last Wanee. The flooding totally shifted the banks in areas and reshaped the beach entirely. There is a good chance by midweek water levels will be lower and we will be able to use the river. There is also a very high chance that closed or not people will make it in, there are other spots to get in the river besides the main beach spot.

I do not. But I attached the wrong graph. Here's the right one. Flood Stage 67 feet.

I’m following you…Show me the way. I just want to see the Suwannee.
I’m not going in for a swim    I lived on the Atlantic for a year and a half and never once went in the water. Indialantic Beach is for surfers not swimmers.

Okay....here is the deal...I live on a river that tends to flood religiously...so I keep the NOAA river reading chart on favorites...

Todays river reading at 2 PM was 47.99 feet and the river flood stage is 67 feet. So there is very little chance of flooding or so I feel. River readings are not necessarily the depth of the river but is based on elevation readings. I am not that familiar with that point but I would not be concerned.
If I knew how to post this from their site, I would. But I am computer illiterate....if anyone wants to look it up, I can tell you where to look.

We were there Springfest and someone told my better half that the city of Valdosta had been pumping raw sewerage into the river! Unacceptable.
