That makes more sense than high water. We always make a point to go down to the river; it's a beautiful place.

OK. Here's my 2 cents. I was there Monday afternoon
and beach area road was closed at canoe outpost.
There were 3 guys taking out at boat ramp from a canoe
trip. The river was about 1/4 way up boat ramp for those
you who have been before. The river is up quiet a bit higher
than past WANEES. It is pretty strong current. I can see someone
getting "carried" away. I love the river also and just maybe
by next week it will drop enough for them to open
beach up.
As far as the sewage dumping for Valdosta, that flows
into the Withlacoochee which merges into the Suwannee
at Suwannee State Park downstream from Music Park.
So safe on that park IF we can just get to river now.

I'm going down tomorrow. Will update ASAP.

Can't wait. It's WANEE time.

Everyone b safe and smart on trip in.

Here's my 2 cents. Weather SOS park deems the river unfit for use or not I'm gonna find a way down there. I'm a country boy and a little high water don't scare me one bit. Were I'm from thats all we did as kids ;)

SOSMP Beach is much steeper now from the recent high water levels & fast current. (Pic from Nov) A lot of rain heading that way today & tomorrow. Those on the inside please report on river beach status...open, closed, submerged?

I just left park around 12 today. Beach area still closed off. And got heavy rain coming tonight. So, I doubt we are gonna have a beach area to hang out this year. Really sucks. :? Lot of beach area has got wash away because of previous rains and is still flowing at pretty good pace. The river is "open", just not the beach area. Canoes are renting still.
The rest of the park looked good and is ready. Pretty quiet and laid back today, but we all know that will change in couple days.
Thats's about all I know as of now. Peace

LAME! They don't close the ocean if the waves are too big!
