Close to the Peach stage at an early show, a dog was unbeknownst sniffing at my feet, when my buddies from behind proclaimed... the drug sniffing dog is here. Ha ha... wise guys.

Yeah Jake's stuff is legendary. His Camper special motors are the absolute best pancake bus motor you can buy! I have a box around here somewhere with an original set of NOS swivel feet. Now you got me looking LOL. :D

Yes, I adjust my own valves (gearhead). :D

Isn't that a requirement for all who own an air-cooled VW?

Nope. Later model (~76 - 83) buses had hydraulic lifters. There have been many variations of aftermarket hydr. conversions for the type 1 also. I have a type1 motor, and a solid shaft conversion. I like the stock screws, and dress the tips at valve adjusting time. Adjustments hold rock steady, and the valves all rotate correctly.

 Oh yeah..thread related..

Yeah, Jake didn't build it though, so he won't let me call it a Camper Special!lol All his parts assembled by yours truly, and heads rebuilt by Adrian at Headflow Masters in CA. He used to do Jake's heads for him. I did all the valvetrain geometry recommended by Raby. Crazy stuff for a first time builder! You'll love the swivel adjusters!

Anyone with a VW should adjust their own valves! It's easy, and who can you trust better than yourself to do something to your bus!!
FYI - hydro lifters started in '78. (not to nitpick ;) )

For some reason, when I see the title of this thread - I think of free range chickens. Then I think about the dog farms in Korea, do they have Free Range Dogs there or are they kept caged up like chickens here in the states? :o :o  :? 8-)

I've concluded farm raised alligators taste better than the free range gators (my buddy has a legal hunt permit).
So I would say, pass on the free range dogs.

I think Korea is all natural, which means they keep their dogs in tight cages, like the grey hounds here. ;)
