Post Re: What's Your Next Show?
We made it to Clearwater Friday to check out the rescheduled Chick Corea & Bela Fleck show (postponed in March due to snow -- not on our end!).

THREE VIEWS OF THE SHOW

To me, it was a spectacular classical performance. Both "boys" were simply off the chain. They are SO simpatico. 50-minute first set, hour+ second set, which included Gail Moran, Chick's wife, for an encore singing "Someday My Prince Will Come."

Linda is a bigger Bela fan than me, but she was bored. It's not that she was expecting Return to the Flecktones or anything, but it just didn't light her fire.

And, naturally, of course, you would expect no other, I sat behind the guy who yelled WOO at least 100 times, right in my ear, and laughed at everything. Must have been the $400-an-ounce bag. I am a magnet for these folks.

Actually, I sat in FRONT of the WOO dude. He was right in my ear all night.

The Mike Dillon Band returns to Ybor City and the Crowbar Friday. They were so amazingly spectacular last time (I do confess it is an acquired taste).

Saturday is Groovefest 4 at the Skipperdome in north Tampa (Skipper's Smokehouse). Here is the blurb:

Now in its fourth year, GrooveFest showcases bands from the Florida music scene whose sound is defined, not by genre, but by quality live performances, improvisation, and a blend of styles. Music will flow continuously from two stages, the main stage and an acoustic stage in the back bar area. Music starts at 2p and will run until midnight. Hosted by Thor Bendickson and Wayne Tagle, programmers of In The Groove, a jamband music show that airs from 11p – 1a on Tuesday nights. This annual fundraiser has proven to be a fun afternoon and evening of great music, vending, painters, food and family.

Some of the best jambands in the state on two stages!!

Main Stage
3:15 - 4:15 - Roundhouse Social
5:00 - 6:15 - Rich Whiteley Band
6:45 - 7:45 - Serotonic
8:30 - 9:45 - Come Back Alice
10:30 - 12:00 - The Heavy Pets

Acoustic Stage
2:30 - 3:15 Dean Johannsen
4:15 - 5:30 Savi Fernandez
6:15 - 6:45 - Jerrod Simpson
7:45 - 8:30 - Shane & Fil
9:45 - 10:30 - Applebutter Express Duo

Tickets
$12.00 advance $15.00 at the door

Skipper's Smokehouse
910 Skipper Road
Tampa , FL 33613 [map]
Phone: (813) 971 - 0666

Then, sunday, it is Matt Lapham's birthday (he claims about 365 birthdays a year, but this might be almost real) at the Peacock Room in Orlando. Matt is one of the greatest bass players ANY.WHERE.

Full weekend!!!!!
