His music was featured in the 1996 film "Mars Attacks!" In the film, the sound of Whitman's "Indian Love Call" made the heads of invading Martians explode.

Heh. My bud emailed me about Slim's passing, and included two YoutTube links... one for the scene from Mars Attacks, when Grandma is listening to Slim, and the Martians come in her room and their brains explode :D

... the other video was of a mess of little black puppes, Slim's Indian Love Call is being played on the stereo, and the puppies are freaking out
