Post RV sites AVAILABLE for MagFest and/or Hullaween?
Hey everyone, I've been a "fully-engaged participant" in both
Wanee and Magfest for MANY years...over the years my tribe
has perfected the art of building a camp with luxury accommodations,
at least as "luxury" as you can make it tent camping....
Maybe I'm selling out, but, I just bought an RV,
OR, maybe, I'm crazy--tents don't have "system problems"...
OR, maybe I'm just gettin' older...

ANYWAY,

We have our usual tix to MagFest, and I just got tix to String Cheese!
Can't do Bear Creek too, at least not this year...

And, I got this RV...so, now, I can dry camp in the Bird Sanctuary, or???

Anyone want/need to get rid of an RV site?
(Either festival)

Thanks

BBBBird bird bird... Bird is the WORD!!

Ok. Got THAT out of me...

As i was told last year, for my FIRST Wanee, you can park an Rv Anywhere you dare to drive it. My lil old VW bus is considered an RV in a few places, so i have learned to ask carefully and thoroughly. I downloaded the PDF of the SOSMP rules. Yeah, I am 'that nerd'.
If you plan on using the generator, please camp in the generator area. :)
Do NOT dump your grey/blackwater tank on the ground. Nor in a hole. From LIMITED (like 5 people) that I talked to about it, they (SOSMP) are a little ...um...fussy about you dumping tanks there if you do NOT have an RV pass. This is ALL hearsay.....nuttin' official. But the class C that was primitive camping near us was denied the dump. So were campers with port-o-toilets they used.
There are a few other tricks to having a GREAT primitive in an RV ... just remember to respect the tenters around you.

Bird IS "the word" for me these days...
My "new to me" "RV" is a 25-year-old BlueBird Bus conversion...
"reduce, reuse, recycle"---this one falls into the "reuse" category :)

I call it "ABBird" because I live in Atlantic Beach...

Anyway,
I really appreciate the tagline you've adopted...
I too appreciate the few "RULES" enforced,
And, the expectation that we will all just respect each other...
And, have some fun...

I've done both Wanee and Magfest since "the beginning of time"
(When these particular festivals began),
So, this is just an evolution for me--another adventure...

MYBIGGEST QUESTION (hope for some advice???) is:
Since this bus weighs a lot (~35,000 lbs),
How do I avoid getting "stuck in the sand" boondocking at SOSMP?

Anybody out there had any experience with parking
"A big RV" out in the Farm Field or the Bird Sanctuary?

We have been tent-camping in the "upper Bird Sanctuary" for years,
My tribe loves the location--a bit farther to walk in,
But, we usually only "go in and out" once a, long, day...

We are going over to MagFest on Tuesday early...
If we do end up in the "Generator area" (as I recall,
That's near the Drum Circle...appropriate...)
Stop by to get your cell phones charged!
I may even put a sign up for "FREE CELL CHARGING"...
That's the spirit!
Or, just my way of mitigating the increased environmental impact
of my personal choices...gotta' always seek a bit of balance...

On the bright side, if you get it stuck when you're there for Magfest, you'll have your spot reserved for Hulaween.

Sorry, I only tent camp. My only assistance here is to contribute smartass comments.

Had a friend that parked a Big camper out there with no problems. There will be enough friends there to help otherwise. Don't think it will be a problem.

Yep, I'm sure there would plenty of people ready to help,
That's the "spirit"! of Suwaneeeeee!
Believe me, I have some "Karma Credits" in reserve...
The stories I could tell...

Anyway, looks like "I'm going for it" (primitive camping)
...with some "due diligence" and preparation...

Here's my plan: based on the idea that I am also
intending to take this "bus" on many future "boondocking adventures"
(read: off road), I'm going to bring along my own "sand bridge"...
That's really just a bunch of 2x8 boards...

What the "heck" , if I gotta' cross some really soft sand,
I just lay out my "bridge"...
Now, obviously, I need to bring EXTRA beer (etc...) to fuel the
"Bridge Builders" who happen to show up...
Could be an excuse to party...

If you're bringing extra beer, I might load up a bunch of bags of sand. :D

Well, I realize my first reply to you was rather generic, but so was your question. :) Now we have specifics.

I was a recovery specialist for a few years serving FHP, FPL, Brevard county, Ringpower, Stark Truss and others. I have seen a few big rigs stuck.

The weight you quote leads me to think you have a class D bus - Image

as a class C - Image is usually 19,500 - 26,000 pounds GVW.

The class c's are a LOT better 'offroad' than the class D. Which ever one you have will go a BIG way towards what you bring along for traversing unstable ground or for self recovery efforts.

So.... what cha' got?
