Mule in 2008 when they played the headline spot on Friday night. That was the year Gregg was unable to perform. So Warren & crew made a point of crushing it so no one left disappointed.

Royal Southern Brotherhood....(when Gregg walked out on the stage to join them...it literally took my breath away).

I caught a few minutes of some serious Southern royalty.
It'd be fine if Tab and Zito brought their bands to Wanee.

I agree, I waited on the rail for set missing half of ABB's set!

I had seen ABB in 1971. Been seeing the Dead since 77. Panic 93. Phish 93. Mule 98. Derek 2000. But, somehow, despite friends pointing out the foolishness of my ways, I had not seen ABB again. So, 36 years after the first one, Linda and I venture to our first Wanee. Thursday was great, and so far this Friday has been great. We are "properly" prepared mentally. Finally, the Brothers come out on stage and start warming up.

All of a sudden, huge rushes start passing through my brain and my body. I realize they are working their way into "Les Brers in A Minor" (I am getting a rush right now thinking about it). After about two minutes, Oteil launches into that signature bass line that skyrockets you into the song.

DAMN! What a fool I had been! Well, no time for crying about it. Go with the flow!

This set was also my introduction to Ron Holloway (did not realize at the time I knew about him from his Root Boy Slim days!), who was stunning on "Desdemona" (and even more stunning the next night on "Liz Reed"). And a great "Rocking Horse." I still listen to this set regularly.
