Hey Brothers and Sisters! I am going to Willie McTell Fest on Saturday, headlined by Jaimoe!! But since Los Lobos cancelled, they got Col. Bruce Hampton instead. You guys go nuts over him so I am excited even though I know nothing about him. Tell your stories about the Col. :P

Well the first thing he did was separate the light from the darkness.

Cool! If he can do that to music that must be pretty fantastic! Can't wait. Thanks.

Hampton Grease Band first listen was an ear opening experience for young impressionable mind.

"... The Grease Band quickly recorded two albums worth of material that could in no way be construed as having money-making potential...."

Thanks for all the info. His new band is called The Madrid Express. I will take note of these musicians because it seems everyone he touches develops into something special. Col. Bruce will only be on stage for an hour during in the afternoon. Maybe he will hang around and make a guest appearance with Jaimoe because he will get an extended set due to the schedule shuffle.

One of my hi-lights of Wanee 2014 was bumping into Jaimoe in a vendor tent and shaking his hand. A special man indeed. :D

He changes the name of his band regularly...as different configurations of people play with him from time to time.

No Col Bruce info to relay, except that like most others here, I love his music...

But Loofdrone, my very good friends and regular Suwannee camp mates Curtis and Lynne will be at Willie McTell too. They will be easy to spot: he will look exactly like every other Georgia boy there, and Lynne is the Best Wife In The World. Told ya they were easy to spot :D

Sorry about Los Lobos dropping, but it still looks like it will be a fine day of music. Enjoy!
