Post Pre-fest activities
I've been reading a lot about you guys showing up a week ahead of time. I'm wondering, as someone who is going alone, what there is to do in the week leading up to Wanee? I'd hate to show up and just hang out at camp all day, bored out of my mind.

Oh no....you don't hang at your camp....you hang at others and have a grate time.....
There is nothing boring about watching the crowd pour in while you are visiting with "new" friends.... :D

That... and you can have a few cold ones and whatever else is going down and just imagine ME in my classroom grading papers and posting grades and making sure I have adequate substitute plans for two days so that they don't rip my room to shreds!

Yep, I'll arrive barely in time for Meet and Greet. Again.

I knew you had to be teacher! My mother was a teacher for over 30 years! God bless you for doing so

Thank you. I officially hit 33 years last Friday. I am in our DROP program, and my last day will be January 31, 2016, not that I'm counting or anything.

Or maybe earlier. I REALLY need to go on JamCruise.

What's the Drop program?
Also, We have been showing up on Wednesday the last couple years but I'd like to come sooner so we can enjoy the beautiful area without crowds of people.

I am coming in without Wholigan on Tuesday and then he will be joining me on Thursday. (someone has to work) I will be decompressing, tricking out our campsite, and visiting with our BOS/SOS family. It is GRATE to have an extra day or two to get your camp on :!: Then when the tens of Thousand other people come in you are ready to love the music and magic. Wanee is a magic festival where most of us become one with the park and live the music.

DROP is the deferred retirement option plan. I confess to a lot of ignorance about something so mathematical. When you enter DROP (and the program has been scaled way back since I entered three years ago), money is going into my retirement AND I am getting a paycheck. They base it on your previous five years.

It is double-dipping, but I would modestly say teachers and first-responders are entitled.

Really ....a couple days early for me is the only way to go...
Get set-up, tarps up...the area cleaned of leaves and debris...
visiting Waneetopia....visiting the Artist formerly known as AndieBee...Cruising around the somewhat empty roads....
Last year I was just sitting in front of the General Store when the RevHugh came in and gave me a hug...
The World was One from that point forward...

I will be having a new wave dance party at our campsite both Tuesday and Wednesday night at dusk. Down in D by the bat house
