I googled Jackson, MS "live music" and the 1st link is http://www.discoverourtown.com/MS/Jacks ... ts-13.html
and under night life there are bars with links. The quotes around live music is one key thing to use on this kind of search.
If I put jackson mississippi bars in google it will give me http://www.switchboard.com/MS/Bars/Nightclubs/
and clicking on "Search the Web" under Fugleys took me to http://www.clubplanet.com
and you can change the city and then click "places to go" and select clubs for a long list. I see the 930 Blues Cafe which looks good. An open all night blues bar - wow. This is what they had to say about it:
"930 Blues Cafe - If you have to work the next morning, we bet a thousand bucks you’re going to call in sick. That’s because 930 Blues Cafe, at 930 N Congress St, is open all night. So the odds of you getting a good night sleep are closed to zilch – we predict you stumbling home around 8am and flopping into bed, forgetting to brush your teeth. And nothing wrong with that."
Putting in Jackson Mississippi music gave me this which you will probably kick yourself in the butt for missing if you did:http://www.jacksonfreepress.com/index.p ... ds_061709/
(Medeski, Martin & Wood - JJ Grey & Mofro - Dickey Betts & Great Southern to name a few)
Another thing to do is check out local music stores. Bands will put info up about themselves and the employees often know the band members and genre and can point you in the right direction.
Maintaining schedules on the web can be a pain and small bars often won't do it. There are many "hole in the wall" places that have kick ass people show up and you may have to call them each week to see who is coming. Look for open mic bars too - they are fun to drop in on.
