Were I in the market, I'd ask them their FB name. Assuming they have one; everyone does, right?
Once ya got that, find the person's name on FB, see how many friends in common you have w/ them, and PM one or two of your friends about the seller. You should be able to vet them fairly quickly that way.
Or, get a phone number and have a friendly chat. Folks I know that use Craigslist regularly weed out scammers that way; few are willing to take a scam to that level. Most aren't good con artists, they are just using the anonymity of technology to run their game. Nearly all scammers won't give out a phone #, or will not respond to the request.
