 Mickes Q&A
Hope you don't mind but I would like to use this forum for personal and egoistic matters... Just because you seems to be the right bunch of people to ask. As you have US-experience and not I AND represent more or less my own kind of living and interest I cannot think of a better forum to turn to.
Anyway... Some of you might have noticed that I and my two daughters will arrive to Orlando the 1st of June and for sure be at Wanee when the action takes place. The festival is the reason we visit US for the first time. The 12th we will return to Orlando for the flight home and will use the other days to travel a bit and experience the south. Loose plans to drive to New Orleans and back. That's the story.
All kinds of questions might swirl in my head during this planning month of May and that's why I got the idea to now and then start a topic here. Perhaps as subject "Mickes Q&A: Subject description" so that anyone who thinks it's nice enough to help me a bit can read and answer. Is this ok for you all?
Don't hesitate to ask me quests as well. Anything about me/us, about Sweden or else.
Right now I will just ask about what kind of weather to expect and that relates to what clothes to pack. I guess its rather hot in the south in June. T-shirt and jeans/shorts might be what most people wear I guess. How chilly can it be? Should we be prepared for heavy rains?
This was a starter. Thank's in advance.

 Re: Mickes Q&A
Hey Micke.. Feel free to ask any questions you need answered. Yes it will be hot. Yes it might rain & It might rain hard. Usually the rain will not last long, but A LOT of rain might fall in a quick time. I suggest shorts & t shirts. You might were jeans at night, but I doubt it. I would wear shoes at festivals. I would suggest this for your girls as well. Between the Porto-Poties and and dirt and the amount of walking you will do it is a good idea to have something besides flip-flops. These are my festival shoes and I love them! http://www.zappos.com/search/brand/556/ ... 2Womens%22These are the women's they have men's to. They have flip flop bottoms and canvas tops. They are light, wick well, and are super comfortable. Plus when you get in your sleeping back at night you wont have swamp foot! Average June Temps for Live Oak. HIGH ºF - 90 LOW ºF - 68 AVERAGE RAINFALL 6.8 The nice thing is that it will not be super humid yet. I dont know where you are coming from so it might be humid to you. You should definatly bring some kind of backpackers rain jacket w. hood. (marmot, northface, or even a cheap walmart one that folds up small) It will keep you more comfortable than a hot steamy poncho. Also I would make sure to bring a footprint or pickup a cheap tarp at wal-mart to protect your tent. Hopefully the weather will be good. But it is better to be safe #1 thing you need to bring will be BUGSPRAY w. deet. You can buy this walmart walgreens, target pretty much anywhere. The mosquito's will probably be pretty bad because the Suwanee is flooded right now. #2 Sunscreen. SPF of 70.

Man - that's a bunch of shoes for a 2 day fest! Do you carry them in a backpack or swing by the camp site to change them out every hour or so?

On your way to New Orleans you might consider spending a weekend night in Tallahassee and visiting the Bradfordville Blues Club. http://www.bradfordvilleblues.comYes, I have a personal interest in the juke joint but it is known worldwide now among blues fans as a place to visit. It is unique and safe and your girls would be welcome. Its a place you wont soon forget! June 5th they have Joey Gilmore in the club who won the International Blues Challenge a couple of years back. Actually he won it twice. He won one year and was disqualified on a technicality then came back and won it again the next year. That's quite a feat!

Hey Cyber, I see "The Damon Fowler Group" is playing there on June 13th, he would be worth checkin' out. I used to them all over the central Fl. and Tampa area.

Yeah, he is good. He has been to the club a few times but his next show is outside the dates Micke will be here. Mikey Jr. & Stone Cold Blues are supposed to be very good too but I haven't seen them yet. If Micke was here longer I would have recommended the June 20 Geoff Achison show, he'll be backed by Kofi and Yonrico Scott with Charlie Wooten on bass. That should be a good one!

 Re: Mickes Q&A
Micke, I may be able to loan you a tent for the weekend if you want. I have a 4 person tent that has never been used. It probably is a 2 person tent in reality.
Anyways, I might not be needing it and instead of returning it I am going to keep it to lend it out at Wanee. If you do want to use the tent, PM me before your departure so I'll know whether or not to offer it to someone else.

 Re: Mickes Q&A
Thanks a lot everyone. Perfect advices and know I know more of how to pick clothes for the journey. And a very nice offer from Smoke. The thing is that we might to camp somewhere else during the trip so I was planning to bring our tent anyway. It's a perfect light weight tent and quite easy to carry. A big thanks anyway!
I post another quest when things get on my mind...
