 Wanee First Timer
This board has been most helpful & fun as I made my decision to join the party. Thanks to all. I have a few questions if some of you seasoned pro's can help?
What is traffic like early Thur. afternoon? I am traveling from South Fla and hope to arrive around 1:00-2:00.
How does the picking of your primitive site work? Are some areas better than others? I will have my 16 year old Nephew with me.
Can't wait till June! Thanks for your help.

 Re: Wanee First Timer
Traffic will be easy on Thursday. It's not a huge festival so there is never the hour waits.
For primitive camping you just drive around until you see a spot that suits you. Park. And throw your stuff down.
Camping by the Chapel and Lake there is a lot of shade and proper bathrooms, close to the stages. People do party late that way though. Down river road it is quieter, still lots of shade, shorter distance to the river for a swim, but a little longer walk to the stages.
It's all just your own preference really. There are some maps floating around the forum.

Primitive camping is a free for all. I would suggest finding a shady spot though. It will be hot!

 Re: Wanee First Timer
Do campers put up posts and rope off their campsite there?

 Re: Wanee First Timer
A lot of people will rope off sections on Thursday for their group if people are coming on Friday. Most people respect this that I've seen, and there has been no problem with people doing this.
Just be respectful of other campers in roping anything off.

Inquiring minds want to know!!! You can come and go as you please. I have never done it. I usually bring what I can in a good cooler or two (one for beer, one for food) and make it til Sunday. Some people do though. I just can't leave the park and chance missing music or fun. Usually you will have no trouble getting your car out, in my expericence. We usually take someone's truck to the river every morning to go for a swim.

 Re: Wanee First Timer
Morning time is the only time you have to leave if you don't want to miss any music!
