I try to stay out of discussions about racism..as well as politics and religion. I'm not racist by any means. But, I do have to add something to this conversation...not defending David.

At the time David recorded his 2 contriversial albums (1978 and 1982...later they were combined into the XXX album) he had an Afican American drummer. He also put out albums with songs against the KKK and against Anita Bryant for her opposition to homosexuality.

David spent most of his life in and out of prison. Once when he got out of prison, he started a band in Seattle...an all African-American band with a little known Jimi on guitar...yes that Jimi.

I've met David on a few occasions (yes, I saw his band a few times with Warren on guitar) and he was a very nice person and I never heard him say or do anything racist.

He shouldn't be judged on the few rascist songs he did record, he has lots of really good music on his many albums.

and i don't care for rappers OR rednecks singing about killing cops and popping caps in people asses.....again,judgement,,right and wrong....

I apologize to the forum but that Coe album really strikes a nerve with me. To those who think I may be overreacting, just read these lyrics and tell me if they are funny.

That is ONE song on the album ... I thought we dropped this, and if it is SO offensive WHY WOULD'NT YOU JUST KEEP IT TO YOURSELF. Now you are exposing others to what you deem offensive. The irony is stunning.

Gentlemen - I say you agree to disagree. We all come from different walks of life and that is what makes us all interesting and amazing. We are not going to have all the same opinions or convictions. Let's get back to what we do have in common.

I am all for that..... But why why why would you want to expose other people to something that you see as offensive... I just do not understand the logic behind that.

I already apologized to you and as I said before; I am an activist against racism. you should give me a little slack on that note. If someone was standing next to me and started suing the N word, I would tell them to stfu. If someone says that garbage album is funny I am going to argue against it. Sorry, that’s just me.
