Hey I have to ask now that it is done, where are you getting it made? I took a sketch my own design to a place locally and they want $350 to turn it into a banner (and not even a HUGE one). That's a little pricey for my tastes...

Thank you all you are too kind. As I said before, this is not my original artwork. Everything was done using Photoshop.

Andie, that price is too high I think. I live in South Florida and I went to the Swap Shop in Fort Lauderdale. They print vinyl canvass banners that look pretty good. There are 2 sizes, 9’ x 2’ and 4’ x 1.5’. The 4 footer is $35 and the 9 footer is $90. They have borders and metal anchor holes in all four corners.

I am going for the 4 footer. When I get it done I will let you know if it’s good. I could help you out if you want, but let’s see the quality I get for $35. They print from a JPEG image.

I think the most important thing is to plan your project with a high resolution around your target dimensions. In other words, I first decided I was going for a 4 x 1.5 dimension. So I set my image size of the project to 48” x 18”. I also used a decent resolution of 150 pixels per inch. If you don’t set these parameters before you even start, your image may look like crap stretched out on a large canvas.

Let me know if you have more questions.

Like I said earlier... History :)

I am almost finished with my banner, but I think I went a little overboard. I used the theme from the inside album cover of the Eat a Peach album. The original is a panoramic view overlooking a river, so it’s a good match.

Here are some of the highlights:
• The sun from the album cover
• The mushroom girl from the album cover
• The birdman from the album cover dispensing mushrooms and peaches from his bag, while musical notes float up to the sky
• The truck from the album cover
• The lady riding a dragon from the album covering pulling this banner in the sky
• The hookah bug from the 07 poster (thanks waneelover)
• The hill is a pile of buds
• Duane looking down from the sky
• A total of 40 notes, mushrooms and peaches, symbolizing the 40th anniversary

This whole project was done using Photoshop so it’s not my original artwork. I just gathered images and used the program.
