Dannnnnnnnnnng Owllover - never tried Goober Peas. You must partake in this delicacy, you'll either like them or you won't.

Post Re: boiled peanuts
can anyone describe the taste?
i think its kinda like a salty soaked legume(bean) texture....
kinda hard to esplain...
there are some good boiled p'nuts and then there are bad.

when i make mine from green(raw) p'nuts, i soak them overnight~or at least 8 hours~
then rinse several times
load with salt, which takes some experience to get them just right
then boil on stove or an open fire, depending,, for about another 8+hours...
there are many ways to boil.

cajun requires a mix of hot sauces and hot red pepper flakes.

i have some relatives up north and some likem and some hatem.
i'ma southern boy and they run deep in my blood.

they go great with cold beer!!!!

NCViper - pleeeeaaasssse save me some

Ever tried to boil them in beer?
:?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:
Depending on the mood, or the amount of elixir I have imbibed upon decision to boil up a batch........I bring as big a potful as I can find peanuts to a rollin boil, then turn it off, go to bed, sleep it off, get up, drain, and begin the real process. Sometimes I just turn the burner back on simmer, continue salting and check them after 4 hours,,,,,,,,,Sometimes I drain the overnight water, put in a MacDaddy size of Shlitz or Colt 45 or PBR, let sit for an hour, then add water, salt and whatever I can reach in the pantry for season..............after about 4 hours, start checking for taste and readiness...............

If you ever find yourself in SAVH, check out the peanut lady on the northeast corner of the "Parkway and Montgomery Xroads", if you go past the Walmart on the right heading east, take the first left, it will loop around to "undutabably" the best bald pnuts I have ever had.

Ya'll have a real nice day-G-Ma Cracker signing off to another cold Indiana morning TTFN
