In my past experience at Suwanne fire ants can be non-existent to "eat your mf leg off." I am going to spray my tootsies with environmentally harmful chemicals just to be safe. Cause if you get bit by fire ants your festival experience could go from grand to very miserable quickly.

Welcome uncle fester!
mrs waneelover and I have camped both primitive and full and have never had an issue with fire ants. That's not to say there aren't any - they are there but not in any threatening way that we have seen. Many areas are regularly camped which likely leads to keeping them in check ....but.... you may find them a little thicker the deeper you go into the woods. I wouldn't delete a jumbo sized can of raid off of my list if there is a serious concern.

We've always been in the open, but..........

I have heard that ticks can be pretty bad in the wooded areas.

Just sayin'.
