Just remember that this board is 'in their house'. I am a huge supporter of free speech, but if you are in someones house and start bad mouthing them, don't be surprised if they ask you to either shut up or leave.

We don't want to put James in an uncomfortable position.

Insert picture of an uncomfortable Emu here. :)

Here's to hoping that it will bring taxes and fees down. Don't mind paying for the music and seriously appreciate the wicked lineup for this year.

I would hope that when 2 companies come together that it would be to provide a better service, and I not really sure how to improve these two's service because I have never had any trouble in the ticket purchaseing process other that watching service fees rise, so hopefully now that these 2 are together those fees will go down.... or does that mean becuze there are 2 now they will double.. :?:

One would be inclined to feel that there will be some advantages. Time will tell :D

U.S. Justice Department Approves Ticketmaster/Live Nation MergerIn a ruling that certainly will impact on the future of live entertainment, the Department of Justice has approved the merger of Ticketmaster and Live Nation. The DOJ had been examining the potential union of the two companies for a year and some observers had expected that the government would determine that the merger violates the country’s antitrust laws. As it now stands, the new entity brings together a soup to nuts approach by owning: many major music venues, the nation’s major ticketing company, the country’s largest event promoter and also Irving Azoff’s powerful Front Line Management group. While some had suspected that the government would require Ticketmaster to divest itself of its TicketsNow secondary ticketing site, the DOJ failed to make this a condition of the merger. It did however state that Ticketmaster must license its ticketing software to AEG Live and sell Paciolan, the company it owns which creates ticketing software for facilities. The DOJ also vows that, “Under the settlement, the merged firm will be forbidden from retaliating against any venue owner that chooses to use another company’s ticketing services or another company’s promotional services, including restrictions on anticompetitive bundling.” The new company will be called Live Nation Entertainment.
The details of the ruling can be found at the Department of Justice website.

If LN gets an extra $10 per ticket sold as a service fee for pretty much every ticket sold in the US how much do you think they rake in per month just on that fee alone not even mentioning that they now own most of the venues

The Department of Justice should have been looking out for the public and forced them to dissolve TicketsNow. TicketsNow was a part of Ticketmaster and is obviously suspicious.

They have been accused of wrong doings because the same company that offers the regular priced tickets to the general public behind the name Ticketmaster also offers premium tickets to the secondary market behind the name of TicketsNow, allowing them in effect to scalp tickets legally. It also makes it very easy for them to funnel off tickets directly to themselves.

Now that the DOJ has allowed them to continue this, there is no turning back. Live Nation, Ticketmaster, and TicketsNow are now all part of a new company called Live Nation Entertainment.

The boys on Wall Street obviously think that LNE will be making more money because of the merger. The stock price is up over 30% since yesterday when the approval went through.
