Post places to stay
Hello all:

My first wanee festival, and I was wondering.. since it seems like all the hotels in Live Oak are sold out, we were thinking about staying nearby in Lake City, which I guess is 20 mi. away or so. Would it be convenient to stay there? Wondering about the traffic getting in and out, I would like to to do the primitive camping thing, but my wife ain't into it, and I don't think there are any upgraded campsites or cabins available, any suggestions where a good place to stay would be. Or if anyone can hook me up with a good place to stay nearby, I would be glad to share some great california fruit with you. Any other good advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

We stayed in Live Oak and never had a problem leaving or returning. After you get your car sticker, they let you right in, avoiding the regular entrance.

You have to book very early to get a room in Live Oak. Cabins are harder to get and cost about $300 a night I think.

For what it's worth.....That was my plan last year....I went ready to camp but had a backup room reserved in Lake City, in case of rain, or heat (it was June), or bugs, or just to take a shower in a real bathroom.

Once I got to the campground and set up, I didn't want to leave. Money (for the hotel) down the drain. It was rainy, but there were so many fine people around and soooo much music that I wanted to be right there.

I have to qualify this with the fact that the wife wasn't along and I'm kinda an outgoing guy....love to be around people and party.

Also, I'm low maintenance and no stranger to primitive camping.
