Post For those of you who didn't buy American!!!
I know American cars get recalled too but this one is serious, glad I don't own one, anyone who has a Toyota, be careful. They won't even step up to the plate and answer any question people might have, danm shame:

I can't comment on the lack of answers coming from Toyota, but I can say that the Toyota's involved in the recall were all built in America and that the pedal assembly, per that article, also seems to be made by an American company; CTS. From what I've heard, Toyota shut down the lines at 4 American plants and 1 Canadian plant where all the vehicles in question were made.

I've owned a Toyota Celica and a Lexus SC300, both of which were outstanding cars that had almost zero issues. Nothing ever went wrong with the Celica and in 130k miles on the Lexus, I only changed the water pump.

But as you said, lots of cars get recalled, but yes, this one is pretty bad as don't ever remember a car company shutting down their line.

If I were an owner, the only question I would have is "when you fixin' ma ride!"

That said, if you get yourself a nice Ford F350 or Chevy Silverado 3500 you ought be OK all around, especially if you kick down for interior leather.

damn it.

I should have know better than to even speak up when I saw this post considering my 2004 Subaru Baja Turbo is in the shop and I was yet to receive a quote on the repairs.

$2100. F me running!

radiator went out...
thermostat
need new brakes all around
need new battery and cables
they said there was no oil in the motor (i'm not sure what to say about that as the car was running fine last weekend)
two bad hoses on the tranny, (was why that was slipping + hardly any fluid left) (another WTF?)

Oh, once we get it running, then they can look into the wheel bearing problem.

I must say, I'm a little disappointed in Subaru right now considering the vehicle has only 65K.

I'm flustered!

Thanks, in advance, for listening and not pointing and laughing.

I agree. It is a Baja, but it's not like I driving it in the Baja 1000.

I just gotta laugh about it cause it's so over the top f'ed up.

reminds me of this movie quote:
"Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again, but life goes on".

I'm moving on!

Just lead it quietly out into it's favorite parking lot and humanely shoot it through it's engine block

Quick and painless

Just park it in the emergency lane on the interstate..it will be picked apart in days, win win for everybody...just kidding...I happen to own a Sequoia which has about 47k on it, it's a grandma mobile.........I have had issue with it for a while...pedal sticks (won't go down) but engine accelerates like mad......this only happens during the first five minutes of use, afterwords, OK,
but it's parked now until Toyota comes up with a fix...I live in Indiana, it was made at an Indiana plant...but I'm sure my purchase money went somewhere else....I will have to continue to use my F.O.R.D. substitute what you want...found on road dead, fix or repair daily...etc. But for now it seems the safer vehicle as long as the driver (me) is not impaired.

I think you've touched on something...
in general, mechanical stuff will break, eventually, regardless of it's country of origin.
