Post Golf carts all taken
At Helen's Hilton we usually have several golf carts (lots of campers with us), most rented from the campground. It used to be first come, first served when it came to renting the carts but it seems they changed the rules and now all the carts have been reserved. We are looking into renting them elsewhere and bringing them to the campground but I wanted to give everyone a head's up. If you were counting on getting there early and renting one, forget it. They are all gone. Make other arrangements. BTW, if you bring one it must be insured, contact the campground for info on that.

We asked about reserving one as we checked out last year and they told us to call back in a few months to reserve. I remember I had to do that for Mag Fest a few years ago too, so I was suprised that they were first come, first served for Wanee last year. They will be doing conformation calls about a month prior, so perhaps there will be some that come available :)

I don't know a whole lot about this, but as a noob, when I scan the available info from previous years, I get the feeling this year is going to be much more large than previous years, given the lineup.

Do people use bikes to get around Wanee in years past? I'm guessing they aren't as popular as the golf carts for the obvious reason (cup holders! LOL) and secondly because bikes tend to ride off on their own when left unattended.

I'll say this Tony,
We went to the Mushroom stage last year to watch Hill Country and others.....
Spent 2 hours there.......
When we decided to head back for a bite and sip, I didn't have the golf cart key.
s#%t! I lost it!

Walked back to the cart parking area and THERE SHE WAS!
Key in the ignition!

99.9% great folks at Wanee! Thieves are few and far between.

Dang, I should have reread my post; I think it came off a bit wrong. I didn't mean to imply property theft and honestly, in 20 years of festivals, I've never had any such issue with stuff missing. That says a lot about those attending which, I think you've touched on.

Not implying you were implying Tony.
Just giving you our story.

Great folks but you can never be too careful.
I'm just glad my brand new EZ Go SS Sport with the souped up suspension and the chrome plated catastrophic converter were untouched.

It was then I realized that this was not your average gathering!

Now I'm heading to the Gumbo Fest in Ft. Myers.
Rosie Ledet and tha Zydeco Playboys.
Dang I luv Cajun!!!!! Abitas for all!!!!!

Bicycles are ok. We did have a golf cart get stolen last year. We got it back. Whoever took it just took a joy ride, got it stuck and abandoned it. The guy who rented it was a bit stupid to leave the key in it.

In general though, most things are safe at the fest. Just use your head. You might not want to leave a bottle of liquor out on the picnic table when you are gone, leave your cooler in easy reach, etc.
