Post need some gd advice
Grateful Dead that is. I know absolutely jack squat about the dead. love some of their songs that ive heard and i would like to give em a try. I know whole books could be written about what years were the best and the differences in the lineups and whatnot, but it seems we have more than a few deadheads scampering about in this forum so id just like to get your input on a couple live shows i could pick up

I would start with '77, that's my favorite year. May 9, 1977 Buffalo is a good one. The famous Cornell show from the night before is great, but personally I prefer the May 9 show. There are lots of Dead shows on Internet Archive. That's my 2 cents but Lib is probably your best source for all things Dead related. ;)

Tami, this is actually what I recommended, before I saw your response:

3.18.67
2.14.68 - one of my favorites
http://stash.nugs.net/attics/680214_mp3 ... &cmd=shows
10.12.68
2.28.69
3.1.69

If you're gonna start somewhere, it might as well be at the beginning. ;)

I do agree that '77 is a GRATE year, but I'll always be a '78 girl. Olantunji just makes it for me. Love the Gizah shows! :D

That makes sense. I love the the early stuff too. Each era has it's own magic. I am just partial to 74-78. Love Keith and Donna Jean!

Oh and yes, Egypt was magical!!!!!

I just logically figured that people here would enjoy blues and the Pig Years would be a good place to start.

I am definitely partial to 3.25.72 - 2.17.79
