Post specific area for campers with generators?
When I called, they told me that those campers that don't have a campsite and have a generator will be 'escorted to an area with others that have portable power. I'll be in a 24' RV with generator and wonder if anybody knows to which area they will escort us? Some of the previous postings made it sound like you could drive around and pick your spot, but the front office made it sound like when you pull in they will escort you to some designated area. Anybody know? I just want to get oriented prior to arrival.

Yes, there is a generator camping area. Many primitive campers have abused the luxury of generators, annoying people with the noise. Some can be rather loud.

I believe it was out in the D/E section as shown on the map.

We has a 32' class C out on river road, and the generator was used sparingly, and during times it would not irritate others. We parked it carefully to have the generator exhaust pointing away from other campers.

People do use generators in the camping area near the bat house. Not sure if that's one your talking about Randy. I know the generators we heard there in '11 were quite quiet.

I may arrive by myself, and thought of going down Lake Road toward the Bat House, having one of those quiet Honda inverters. It makes for faster meal preparation, and nice lighting. But hauling gasoline is a stinky pain, so may leave it home.
Going that direction, isn't there a sign designating where generator use is allowed?

Maybe i am unclear to the terms... but an Inverter is a 110v (nominal) power source that runs off batteries, deep cell are the best. I bring a few of both.

A Generator uses gas to generate power. no HUGE batteries to care for. :) But gas and noise.

The generator area (i think) stems from the Kohler 10HP generators i heard running out there. LOUD!!!

Get to know your neighbors, have a quiet generator, be polite, share power...and I bet you could camp most anywhere without a problem. Just My Opinion.

Indeed I was not clear. Honda EUI's are in reality an Inverter, but operate like a Generator that requires gasoline to run.
They are relatively quiet when compared to other Generators.

That said, having just camped 10 days at Sebring, I obviously don't mind noise.

Instead of camping around a show...
the show races around the campers.

My track camping friends are going the Stringbreak, which is always the weekend before Wanee. But this year, Wanee moved forward to same week.
I honestly still haven't decided where I'm going. Wanee music is better, but friends with big cookers and group meals are a powerful draw, over cooking for one.
