It was our first festival also in 2007. And then Wanee right after that. WOW. markham Park is really nice. Sadly, that weekend is Yom Kippur.

Re: Langerado is back at Markham Park in South FL!
*They aren't calling it an electronica fest. They said it would be a part of it for sure. The past Langerado's in Markham and in BC offered sweet electronic acts. Your standard STS9, Bisco, New Deal, Russo-Duo, Rjd2, Lotus, Pnuma Trio and similar acts have been there multiple years, wouldn't expect anything like what Ultra brings each year. Andt if Pretty Lights showed up, I just might cry.
The Indie Rock genre they say will be present, SHOULDN'T turn people off either. I can only imagine the possibility of seeing Wilco, Cake, MMJ, The Flaming Lips, The Black Keys, Radiohead, Pearl Jam, Band of Horses, Vampire Weekend, Jack White/Dead Weather or The Decemberists, or maybe even something softer like Iron and Wine.
It's only going to be 22 artists. They won'y be able to stock if full of trash acts, nor do I believe they will. The name should have been changed, why not Fort Lolladale?
I nabbed my 2 early birds yesterday, which really makes this a sweet deal for me. I'm not that worried about it failing, its a first year fest, the best thing anyone can hope for is a successful turn out. That way when next year comes they can expands and look into making improvements.
So many people are tying to write this thing off. Tons of people on the Facebook page went from loving the idea to spewing hatred because of not getting their early bird tickets after they sold out in 1 second. Others are hating it because it falls on Yom Kippur, I have to imagine this happened because it will work out when trying to book certain acts. October is much better for a hotel lodging event than March. i look forward to a sweet two days of music in my backyard.

Re: Langerado is back at Markham Park in South FL!
First of all, it is a good thing that there is new ownership because the Langerado was ruined by the original promoters. The public would never support them again. Secondly, there is no way for Langerado to pick up where it left off in 2009.
It is going to have to start out small, and try to build from there. It would be impossible to pull off another Big Cypress right away. Who knows if Cypress will ever be doable again. Snake Road is a lawsuit waiting to happen, not to mention a death trap. We drove home on that road every night of the festival, and it was pretty scary.
Someone did get killed in a head on collision. The Indians avoided a lawsuit, because it was a tribal member who got killed, but who knows how much damage it did to the tribe's willingness to hold future festivals. I don't see Big Cypress ever happening again unless there is some major infrastructure investment; as in drivable roads. Even then, who knows if the Indians will ever go for it again?
I have to admit that Langerado Big Cypress was the best festival I have ever attended. But as I look back and reflect, it wasn't the promoters that made it such a great experience. It wasn't the bands, it was the vendors, it wasn't the camping arrangements. It was the people. It was all the great people that gathered in the spirit of friendship and good will that made this festival a one of a kind memory.

Re: Langerado is back at Markham Park in South FL!
I live in South Florida and I really want the new Langerado to succeed and grow. When they stabbed us all in the back and tried to throw Langerado in Miami, there were many detractors (myself included) that begged for them to ditch Miami and at least bring it back to Markham Park if Cypress was impossible.
To me, the ownership change and the announcement of Markham Park is a step in the right direction. I will give the new owners the benefit of the doubt until they stab me in the back themselves. I have to be a realist and look at the facts as they are presented to me from their press release: 1) There will be only 22 bands, described as “a diverse collection of artists from indie rock to electronica to modern roots”. This sounds like not too many big headliners. 2) There will be plenty of vendors. 3) The Markham Park location was not guaranteed at the time of the pre-sale. 4) The new owners are saying all the right things: “We want Langerado to be an experience, not just a concert. The environment and the community are critical to that experience, so it’s important to us to create an event that the fans and city will embrace.”
Given these facts, I am not expecting such a good lineup. I am not expecting camping to be offered or included. I am expecting to have one hell of a good time, party, and dance my ass off! I sure as hell am not going to be protesting against it.
