 campground topography
Can anyone recomend areas that would be the highground, in case of rain/flooding? Thanks in advance. Peace.

OK, I'm a newbe here, but a Florida native so, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's all pretty flat. There will be only slight elevation changes except by the river. Bring a tarp to put under your tent. And look for fire ants before you set up. It usually only rains for 10 to 30 minutes this time of year, but it's a hard rain and will cool things off for the evining.

 Re: campground topography
If there is rain in the forecast, you definitely want to find some higher ground.
Flooding is for real at the Spirit of Suwanee. I'm sure I'm not the only one who experienced the washout that was Springfest about 3 years ago. Thursday night night was great until about 2am when the rain started. And when dawn came Friday morning, the big meadow field was, oh I'd say about a three or four acre lake. The amphiheater was a smaller lake, but a lake nonetheless, making both of the main outdoor stages useless for the remainder of the festival. So all the music was moved to the music hall, which sucked, because it was too small to handle the crowds (you had to wait in line outside, and as people exited, they would let others in). Everyone dealt with it pretty well, but indoors just wasn't the same.
So, yeah...flooding is a legitimate concern.

I would say that if you go past the Peach stage, make a left, go about two football fields down and camp in the woods to the right would be a good spot. It is elevated slightly there.

Thanks all for the responses. I'm coming from jacksonville university. I've lived down here for about a year and I have been hearing that the suwanee river is going to flood so I was trying to prepare as much as possible. http://www.tallahassee.com/article/2009 ... /904070319

 Re: campground topography
Weather guys in Florida might as well be crackheads. It'll pour like a mofo, or it'll be dry as Hell, or something in between. No way to tell a week in advance, but plan on afternoon showers. It's a roll of the dice. And, like WFO said, there's no such thing as "high ground" in FL. If it rains hard, your shit's gonna get wet. Be prepared and roll with it.

Here's the current info on where the river is at. http://ahps.srh.noaa.gov/ahps2/hydrogra ... ,1,1,1,1,1We should be OK for the fest

Thanks. Guess I'll come prepared for a flood, and pray for a desert

 Re: campground topography
noobie here !!
Looks like I can’t get there till midday Friday at best, maybe not even at all if my work doesn’t improve. What I was wondering is since I have never been there before:
1. Will there still be tickets at gate for a Friday night and Saturday night stay? 2. Will there be any decent primitive campsites left ? Just bringing myself and my tent, but I was hoping to be in the shade. Really need shade.
any answers?? Thanks
