Colonel Bruce Hampton AKA: AQUARIAM RESCURE UNIT-1993 FLOOD
Any ARU Devotees? I was able to see ARU several times. I actually was able to meet the whole band prior to them coming back on stage for their encore in Des Moines, Iowa in 1993. Colonel Bruce actually called me by name from the stage for a phone call prior to playing their final number of their set. I had driven from Jefferson to Des Moines for the show and while @ the show the RAINS/FLOOD of 93 hit... I was called by the Des Moines police to let me know all roads to Jefferson were closed... Great show, even though I missed their encore.

Re: Colonel Bruce Hampton AKA: AQUARIAM RESCURE UNIT-1993 FLOOD
first time i saw Col.B was back in the eighties at a little club on P'tree st.....Gibb Droll opened and then came out and played with Col. i was not so impressed because i was young and involved in a band and had rising star ego crap mentality....ha ha and ha on that... years pass,,,now i've seen Col. in many situations and places and the whole Zambiland movement that followed made me really appreciate what he has done out there....
a great story i remember Rev.Jeff Mosier of BGUG telling was they had the heebie-jeebies about doing a show one night, i guess they were a little nervous,,,and the Col. made them come out and just start jamming and he had them place a napkin in their mouth....talking about accepting humility and getting over stumbling blocks....but from the way it sounds,it all worked.

 Re: My rant
petewhit wrote: Well, I can't stand Jimmy Herring. When I saw him with ARU I thought to myself "this guy is trying to sound like Steve Morse but is not near as good. He sounded like s#%t playing with The Dead and he sucked with Widespread. He's a generic guitar player with no style.
and also... Derek Trucks is mediocre at best. I've heard him many times and he's good but not great. Jack Pearson is twice the player he is.
Thanks for listening to my rant. I truly believe this. Herring (IMHO) is much better than Morse and is an integral part of Panic that has given them more depth in the post George days. Jack Pearson is Jack Pearson, Derek is Derek. Different Cokes for Different folks...

petewhit wrote: Well myvinyl333 if you think that Herring is better than Morse then well.... your nuts(imo).
I guess you didn't think Warren Haynes got schooled by Junior Brown last year? Not to get in to a debate that is as open ended as your "Rant" or Warren's collaboration w/ Mr. Brown. But everyone has their opinions and preference. As far as being nuts...Steve Morse plays in Steve's world since his Dregs days....If playin w/ Deep Purple as a regular gig is what he wants, cool... I still will support Jimmy as he plays in various "current" configurations that I can personally experience, I guess I won't be able to make a real comparison however, no Deep Purple shows for me on the horizon...

OK, I'm sober now. Sorry for calling you nuts. If I had a dollar for everybody that listened to my favorite music and told me it sucked I would be a rich man. One night I had Shakti playing on the stereo and my roommate ran out of the bedroom and ripped all of the cables out of the back. I guess he's not a big Shakti fan.
