Re: What Music Are You Listening To? Music from the movie "Kansas City." This is undoubtedly one of the worst movies ever made -- sorry, Robert Altman.
We watched it last night. Two hours I'll never get back. However, it IS worth seeing as long as you fast-forward to the music scenes with many of the hottest jazz players in the 90s (and older) portraying the 30s jazz scene in Kansas City: Mary Lou Williams, Count Basie, Charlie Parker, Herschel Evans, Lester Young, and many more. I had a CD sampler from the soundtrack.

Jennifer Jason Leigh can be so good, but she was the *star* of "Kansas City" and was simply awful. It reminded me of another awful movie based in New Orleans, "Tune In Tomorrow." One review cut straight to the chase: "Forget the movie. Buy the soundtrack." By Wynton marsalis and his entourage. It IS awesome, as opposed to awful.
