Where's the "LIKE" Button

Last August, the tour with Johnny, Edgar, Rick, Kim Simmonds and Leslie West hit Clearwater. West did not perform that night.

Edgar had a superb band who backed Simmonds (of Savoy Brown fame) and Derringer. Simmonds was great; Derringer very good.

Johnny had his own band. I mentioned that his performance at Wanee 2010 was a bit subdued. At the August show, he kicked so much A$$ there were no names left to take.

But Edgar. For me, Edgar stole the show. He was great on the keys and more than adequate on the sax, but it was his still-crisp vocals that owned the night. If you are at all familiar with his workout on "Tobacco Road," then you have some idea. And the funniest thing is that he is the funkiest least-funky-looking guy ever!

Yes
Very good show in Clearwater last night. I have never been a huge fan, just an admirer. They did these three LPs start to finish:
Close to the Edge
The Yes album
Going for the One

They did the first two (90 minutes), then intermission. GFT1 does not meet the standard of those other two, IMO. There was little emotional involvement during the second set (45 minutes), although it was well played. "Roundabout" was the encore.

Original members Chris Squire and Steve Howe lead the band with longtime drummer Alan White. Geoff Downes is the keyboard player. The most interesting aspect, for me, was vocalist Jon Davison. I had never seen Yes before, so never saw Jon Anderson in concert. His voice on record always struck me as a little -- raspy? Davison did a superb job, and his voice is "like buttah."
