I heard a great take on "Whipping Post" by Leftover Salmon from 12.30.12 on JamOn!

Listening right now to the Modern Jazz Quartet. Incomparable. I was fortunate enough to see them one year at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore.

The Cheese factor does confound things. Most can make the personal distinction for Mag Fest or BRRRRRR Creek, but now there's Cheese, not to mention STS9.

It will be interesting to see who gets added to Hulaween.

In the meantime, I am listening to Rick James: YOU + I

This is a great cover of the Statler Brothers song. The Statler Brothers made a great comedy album back in the 70s. It was billed as Lester "Roadhog" Moran and His Cadillac Cowboys "Alive at the Johnny Mack Brown High School."

Here is my favorite track from the album:

And here is a live performance. They had a blast "funnin'" themselves:

On the song title thread, I answered "Can't Buy Me Love" with "You Can't Do That." Then I realized I didn't have "You Can't Do That" on the iPod. I was going to download that song but ended up buying the CD "A Hard Day's Night."

That has to be one of the greatest CDs of all time -- for me, about as good as it gets, Beatles-wise. Thirteen incredible songs. As I listened, I realized (I AM old) that I knew almost every word and remembered how good those songs were -- and are. If I had to single out a couple, I would pick:

Any Time At All
Things We Said Today
You Can't Do That
I'll Be Back

In deference to my similarly aged brothers and sisters, we are not OLD.

We are EXPERIENCED.

OH, YES, WE ARE!
