Dangfunky and jazz fans everywhere: "new" releases!

I was on my way to see Cope and Savi Fernandez. I had neglected to "shop local" (independent business day Nov. 30th) at the Sound Exchange CD shop right around the corner, but the original store is right near Skipper's, so in I went (I've been buying there for 25 years). First, I grabbed a Meters compliation with the old stuff I somehow did not have. Then I just "looked" at the jazz section.

OMG!

Some new company (well, new to me) has started putting out some awesome collections. The label is Real Gone Jazz. First I stumbled upon Roland Kirk. Four CDs featured eight of his albums for $15!!!!!!! It started with "Triple Threat" [1956] through three disks from 1962.

Well, I thought, I'll just mosey on down to the Grant Green section. SCORE! Seven albums on four disks for $15. These were all from the Blue Note label, and while I have a ton of Grant, I only had one of these seven!

Instant Karma!

Sweet! But listen, folks. You oldsters remember the old Camel Filters ads: "They're not for everybody." Space Capone isn't, either. It is disco funk, delivered extremely well. Two other bands who delve into this area to my delight are Tortured Soul and Los Amigos Invisibles (coming to the Gasparila Music Festival in March in Tampa).
