OK, so I know I was raving about the Deep Tracks channel 27 on SiriusXM yesterday. So I am driving home from school, feeling like *poop*, when I switch to 27, and there I am, halfway through the 16:22 magnum opus that is "Salisbury" by Uriah Heep, the title track from their second LP (1970). Crimony! I could barely keep the car on the road!

I may never change the channel again. Now I know 95% of you do not know this song, so here it is, but seriously, wait until you can give it the full 16:22 treatment.

And yesterday on SiriusXM 27, they were playing tracks from the upcoming Bruce Springsteen LP, culled from songs that did not make his CDs over the past ten years (I believe that's the story). I am not a huge BOSS fan (much to my son's disappointment, but every song I heard was really good.

Yet another SiriusXM 27 holla:

Here is what I heard on my short drive home today:

First up, my most favorite Faces song (and top 5 Rod performances) “Borstal Boys,” followed by John Entwhistle’s solo take on “My Wife” from his brilliant solo LP “Rigor Mortis Sets In” [“Peggy-Leg Peggy” and “Made In Japan” are classics, too].

Then came a pair of Hot Tuna tunes: electric “Santa Claus Retreat” and acoustic “Hesitation Blues.” Between tracks, DJ Earl Bailey (I hear “Pearl” every time) mentioned their show at Revolution tonight and at the Boca Sunshine Blues Festival Saturday and in St. Pete Sunday – a nice shout-out. And the last tune was “Out Where the Hills” from the first Seatrain LP. I still remember seeing them in 1971 with Poco. Peter Rowan on guitar, Richard Greene on violin and Andy Kulberg on bass and flute leading the band.

If you were deep into this stuff, you should check it out!

I just got a copy of an album that I about wore out as an 8 track tape as a child. It took me 30 years to find it. Early Flight - outtakes from Jefferson Airplane. Includes In The Morning by Jorma and the song banned from the album Takes Off! because it says "trips". My favorite is "Up or Down", Marty screaming how he is going to sit under a big oak tree and play his guitar. Sooo glad to have this album again :D

I'm not sure I know that one. I will check it out.

I am partial to "After Bathing at Baxter's."

Me too - great creative work. I will have that rare JA album on my tablet at both SBF and Wanee.

Just listened again to Tom Petty's "Covers" CD. WOW.
