OK. This is all scotydog's fault. I just want to state that up front. I am in no way to blame. HE STARTED IT!

Because he suggested, all casual-like, that I check out this show by WSMFP:

06/23/99 American Theater, St. Louis, MO
1: Let's Get Down To Business > Glory > Mr. Soul > Happy > Hatfield > You Got Yours > The Last Straw, Weight Of The World* > It's All Over Now*
2: Disco > Junior > Sleeping Man, Airplane > Impossible > Drums > Entering A Black Hole Backwards > Tie Your Shoes > Goin' Out West
E: Cream Puff War

He seemed to THINK I'd like the second set. DAMN! It's awesome. Tsunami of memories time.

I love the song "Junior," and I got one in five of my first six shows, but then no more. [Sorry, but this "Impossible" from St. Louis is NUTS!] At my third show (05.03.95), the opening sandwich was: Sleepy Monkey > Chilly Water > Junior > Chilly Water

The last two "Junior"s were in 97, when I got my first two (of seven) TIE YOUR SHOES! The first was in Tampa 07.23.97. I was totally blown away by the depth of the groove on TYS. And then there was 09.23.97, in the opening week (I think) of the House of Blues in Lake Buena Vista (Mouse World). Check this out:

09/23/97 House of Blues, Orlando, FL
1: Holden Oversoul > Radio Child, Gradle > It Ain't No Use > Wondering, You'll Be Fine, Airplane > Pilgrims, Tall Boy
2: Dyin' Man, Weight Of The World, Papa's Home > Arleen > Papa's Home > Pleas > Sleeping Man, Spoonful* > Drums** > Gilded Jam*** > Tie Your Shoes*** > Junior
E: Walkin' (For Your Love)

First set was great, with Ain't No Use, but look at the second set! The Arleen out of Papa's is just plain EVIL, as was the Sleeping Man (this St. Louis one is great, too). Then Col. Bruce came out and played "Spoonful of Smokestack Lightning," mashing up the two songs (OK, they ARE similar).

Another time for discussion of TYS sightings, as Nole and I roll toward 4999!

W00T!

Well, I am now, by one, in order to answer. Heading out to the Gasparilla Music Festival.

I was trying to "weed" CDs in the front room to make room for new ones. I have too much sh!+, said no music fan ever.

I pulled out a stack of CDs I wanted to check out again. First into the car player during errands was the 2009 debut by Funkuponya. WOW! Now I remember (vaguely) why I bought it from Leeway's Homegrown Music (what a superb outlet for our music!). This quartet is excellent. Think New Mastersounds, with other great things going on Doug Carter on guitar is particularly fine!
