Post Re: MUSIC TRIVIA
I'm hearing his screaming sax on "In Jail in Jacksonville" right now.

"It's a horrible, horrible thing to be incarcerated in the South."

Returning one more time to the story about the Stones having to follow James Brown on the T.A.M.I. show in 1964. Sometimes there is no way to follow an act, and sometimes there is.

In 1967, Hendrix watched The Who destroy their equipment at Monterey during "My Generation": hence, the lighter fluid. He did find a way.

The first time Robin Williams was on Johnny Carson, it was absolute insanity. Williams was all over the stage, especially when he was channelling huckster-televangelist Ernest Angley. Carson actually walked away from his desk several times in paroxysms of laughter. So who is a guest a bit later on in the program? Bob Hope, the (former) King of Comedy. Hope walked on, sat down, turned to Johnny, and said, as tersely as is humanly possible, "THANKS FOR THE SPOT, JOHN." He knew full well that no comedian alive could have followed after Williams had brought down the house.
