Most of it isn't. I am aware that there is a limited amount of rap that has some value, but... When I want to drive my students nuts when they ask about some artist who cannot spell his own name (take your pick), I tell them that rap is a four-letter word, but the C is silent.

I sit corrected. there is a limited amount I find listenable. I dig that it is SUPPOSED to be poetry, but most of it is unintelligible filth. And little of it has any "music" to it at all. A friend who owned a CD shop used to tell me he sold most of it to white bag boys at the grocery store. I know my black students talk about it, but seriously. AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ABOUT AUTOTUNE!
