The UK EP album contains 5 tunes named 5X5 (5 tunes, 5 musicians.) In America EP were not popular so more tunes were needed to create a LP. And that’s why 12X5 (12 tunes, 5 musicians) contained the longer version of the song "2120 South Michigan Avenue”.

Interesting. I have never seen a US version of 12x5 with the long version of 2120. I'll keep an ear out...

You’re right it’s not on the US release.

Stevie Wonder

Who used the pseudonyms Dawilli Gonga, Cobly Bilham and Obdell'l X so that they could record on other labels?

Extra credit question: who recorded as Charlie Chan, starting the pseudonym craze in 1953.

[Get two out of three correctly and get Carl Cassell's voice on your answering machine!]

George Duke was Dawilli Gonga and Charlie Parker was Charlie Chan. Want my number now? 8-)

Billy Cobham= Cobly Bilham

Is Slim Harpo born in Lobdell, Louisiana Obdell'l X?

Great job, especially Charlie Parker.

George Duke was still with Frank Zappa in 1974 (saw them 07.13.74 in St. Pete). When George recorded his LP "Feel" on the BASF label, Frank played on two songs: "Love" and "Old Slippers." Due to contractual constraints, Frank recorded under the name Obdell'l X.

That was a great thought about slim harpo, especially given Frank's admiration for him and others such as Johnny Guitar Watson and Big Mama Thornton.

And you're up!

You go ahead with the next question…takes me forever to come up with something. I am unpacking and getting settled into a new house and this freaking computer is slowing me down. But I have my Wanee piles in the living room ready for packing up Tuesday.

It was T. Lavitz, a good buddy of Herring's. They played together in Jazz is Dead and on other projects. Lavitz played in the Dregs/Dixie Dregs.
