Warren Haynes Joins Phil & Friends at Terrepin CrossroadsPhil Lesh & Friends’ Terrapin Crossroads opening celebration continued last night. Fresh off The Allman Brothers Band’s annual Beacon Theatre run, sometimes Phil Lesh & Friends member Warren Haynes made his way to San Rafael, CA for the evening. In addition to Haynes on guitar and Lesh on bass, the rest of the band’s lineup included Grahame Lesh (guitar/vocals), Levon Helm Band members Larry Campbell (guitar, fiddle, vocals) and Teresa Williams (vocals), RatDog/Furthur staple Jeff Chimenti (keyboards) and Furthur/Duo anchor Joe Russo (drums). In addition to many Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia Band staples, the ensemble busted into a cover of The Allman Brothers Band’s gem “Blue Sky” first set as well as a relatively new cover of Gillian Welch/David Rawling’s neo-classic “Look at Miss Ohio.”

Haynes sang “Blue Sky” during his Phil Lesh & Friends tenure and helped reintroduce the song to The Allman Brothers Bands’ live catalog late last year. Phil Lesh & Friends also nodded to Campbell and Williams’ other group with a version of “Chest Fever” that moved out of “The Wheel,” while Haynes revived Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here,” another cover from his time with Lesh and The Dead. The night came to a close with a cover of the Stanley Brothers’ “Angel Band.” Campbell, Chimenti, Haynes, Williams, Grahame Lesh and Jaz Sawyer will join Phil Lesh at the venue tomorrow.

They are webcasting this entire Phil and Friends run at Terrapin, but unlike the first show there is now a 5$ fee to stream the show. I would be interested in this, but had streaming problems with the show on the 25th, so much so that I ended up not watching it...
