 Re: Gram Parsons Guitar Pull
I didn't know much about Ralph Stanley so I did some research. Along with Flatt and Scruggs, The Stanley Brothers and the Clinch Mountain Boys were one of the first bluegrass bands that followed Bill Monroe. That makes him a founding father of Bluegrass. I've got to get my picture taken with him at the festival!

 Re: Gram Parsons Guitar Pull
Check out Del McCoury at Magfest. He began his career playing and singing with Bill Monroe. There is a bldg named for Bill Monroe at SOSMP. It doesn't get any more bluegrass than that.

 Re: Gram Parsons Guitar Pull
I saw them at Wanee a few years back. Incredible show. Wish I was going to Magfest to see them again. Here is an interesting tidbit I found about the Stanley Brothers.
"As bluegrass music grew less popular in the late 1950s, the Stanley Brothers moved to Live Oak, Florida to headline the weekly Suwannee River Jamboree radio show on WNER from 1958 to 1962. The three-hour show was also syndicated across the Southeast."

 Re: Gram Parsons Guitar Pull
If GPGP wasn't so close to Mag...I'd be there...Gram Parsons was a star...just in the background of others.

I would love to make it but I have a prior commitment. I will definitely see you at Wanee. River Road 255, next door to Capt. Brian.
Gram Parsons was a star. The rock and roll lifestyle got the better of him.
