 Re: Remember When
Staying with the Baseball theme I can remember when teams in Pittsburgh, Oakland, Baltimore, Cincinnati and Kansas City were the dominant teams in the Major Leagues.

 Re: Remember When
Also, players stayed with teams for their entire careers -- or almost.
Al Kaline = Tigers Rocky Colavito = Indians Brooks Robinson = Orioles Sandy Koufax = Dodgers Mickey Mantle = Yankees Ted Williams = Red Sox Johnny Bench = Red Legs (OK, I am REALLY old-school)
Nowadays, you need a program on a monthly basis to figure out who is where. It ain't the same, and it ain't better.

 Re: Remember When
Yes, indeed. There is a record which will never be approached -- even remotely -- much less broken.
2632 games in a row. anyone who watched game 2131, when he broke Lou Gehrig's record, will never forget it.
My mom still has a life-size (6'4") cardboard cutout of Cal in her basement.

Now alcohol was another matter... Spring Training was when they'd show up out of shape and bloated, most players had a second job after the season was over, they didn't make so much.
