Mikey and I went last year; the setting is really gorgeous. Despite the wacky weather [sideways rain! cold!], it was a cool event with some really fine performers. If any of you are nearby Miami, and on the fence, cheap day tix are available for the VaKey fest on Living Social. Like $15/day cheap. Hard to beat that!

Donna the Buffalo? Sure, seen them multiple times. Awesome funky roots zydeco influenced jam. Tara Nivens and Jeb Puryear are great as a duo too. He is a vastly underated song writer.

Donna and Rusted Root would be awesome to see! Donna is real tight and I just love Rusted Root (Hey, they got there song playing on that rental car commercial) Pittsburgh, PA band!!!! Wish I was off this Ship Of Fools to go! Grrrr!

The Virginia Key GrassRoots Festival is put on by the fine folks that put on Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival here in the Raleigh, NC area and Fingerlakes Grassroots Festival in Trumansburg, NY. The common Denominator? Donna the Buffalo! Shakori is the closest fest to me. They have a spring and a fall fest. I've never been. Ever. Spring fest was always the same weekend as a 2 night Panic run in Raleigh. Or the weather would be really bad or whatever. This year I said I am absolutely going in the spring. Nothing can stop me. Wrong. I got stopped dead in my tracks the minute I bought Wanee tickets for the same weekend. And forget going in the fall. That is always the same weekend as Festy Experience, the Stringdusters fest, in the VA mountains. Oh well, maybe next year.
