Stay away from Seven Oaks Inn Jasper. Nasty is too kind an expletive for this place. Also warn your friends that the police set up DUI checkpoints outside the festival. I almost ran over a cop when he jumped in front of my car and yelled stop! I can laugh about it now…just thankful I was not on anything stronger than weed. Renting an RV this year. Let the party begin!

Re: Has anyone stayed in a motel in Live Oak or Lake City?
I've done motels in Live Oak and in Lake City. It's not fun doing the drive back to Lake City, but it is doable. Try calling the Live Oak motels first. They often are not sold out, and they have waiting lists that do open up.

Rent an RV and find a full hook up site here on the forum in the loop or in the front of the Park or else dont even come at all, leaving the park every night going to lake City and coming back the next day and having the deal with re entering the park will suck so bad that you will wish you had simply rented a nice RV

we stayed in cabot lodge in lake city last year. i wasn't impressed with the cabot lodge. we're doing the red roof inn this year. the hotels in lake city offer a free shuttle to the festival. it's not a bad drive in any case.

Re: Has anyone stayed in a motel in Live Oak or Lake City?
I've been to all Wanees except one, but didn't start camping on site until 2009. It's a totally different world when you stay over. Think of it as a huge assed slumber party! Great campfire jams, meeting new neighbors who actually have become lifelong friends, PLUS you never know who you might meet walking around or back to camp. Also there is the added bonus of being able to return to your campsite during the day for food, drink or to recharge. Consider an RV, a sturdy tent with a good air mattress or whatever suits your fancy, but consider staying over!!
